Hi. I'm Tim Rees. The first heavy duty creative
project I was involved with was the BBC 1 film Mimosa Boys,
a film drawn from my diary of the Falklands war starring Owen
Teale, the 1997 Tony award winner for his performance in Ibsen's
A Doll's House. I worked closely with John Hefin, the director,
during filming and post-production. I went on to become technical
advisor on Bonds, an interpretation of a poem, and the BBC 2
drama series, Ties of Blood, a series made for BBC Belfast.
Between advising I worked on a long string of drama and film
productions including New World, written by William Nicholson,
(Shadowlands, Nell, Grey Owl, Firelight & Gladiator), directed
by the BAFTA award winning Norman Stone and starring James Fox,
Bernard Hill and Betsy Brantley.
I won the Sunday Express short story competition.
I have written numerous short stories, two novels and a commissioned
project for television that was broadcast by the BBC.
It is my personal aim as a fiction writer to make
difficult subject matter more digestible. I've often argued
fiction is the best medium to shine a spotlight on flaws in
any society because, by its very nature, it's entertaining,
thus works more effectively on the subconscious. A good film
can make a difference, and therein lies the magic and mystery
that drives the graft that hones the craft of the storyteller.
I have been writing short abstract, philosophical
stories to bold, high-concept thrillers targeting thought provoking,
potential realities. The cornerstone for all my work is entertainment,
but always entertainment born from a passion for the subject
matter. I am committed to my work absolutely.
So why am I going on about my writing career?
How can that help you and your web site? Key words and key phrases
are how people will find your website on the search engines.
My writing and photography background are the keys to my success,
which can also be your success...
I will also write your original marketing copy.

By the way, and just to promote my work a little
more, relevant to Raw Nerve, my first novel that you can download
for free (see text to the left), is the fact I served for six
years in the Welsh Guards where I worked on covert operations
in Northern Ireland for army intelligence. I also experienced
front-line combat during the Falklands war.
A few people have asked me the question: why have
I written about racism in America? When I hear that I'm reminded
of an incident some years ago when, whilst dating an Asian girl,
I was confronted by a group of white youths calling me nigger
lover. Since that moment in time I've often pondered the inane
hypocrisy of racism. I was very interested and excited when
it looked like General Colin Powell was entering the election
race for the White House. When he decided against running I
asked myself the true reason why. Raw Nerve is the result. Now
Barack Obama is the president of the United States of America
and he is making the world a brighter place.
